WWA Scholarships

  • The Women's Wine Alliance is committed to supporting the continued education of women in the wine industry through our annual scholarship program. Designed to empower members pursuing higher levels of wine education and certification, our scholarships help offset the costs of credential exams and other wine-related academic programs. By investing in the growth and development of women wine professionals, we strive to create greater access to educational opportunities and strengthen the future of the industry. Applications are open to eligible members, and recipients are selected based on their dedication to wine education and professional advancement.

To apply, the member must be in good standing, have attended a minimum of four (4) events (educational seminars, networking socials, volunteering for the organization etc.) over the 2025 calendar year, and have an active membership status.

Women’s Wine Alliance Voting Board Members are ineligible to receive scholarship awards, however if they contribute to the Board, or serve on a committee under a voting member and do not hold a vote, they are eligible to apply.

Award amount will be given for a singular event up to $1,000 and will be made payable to the recipient as a reimbursement after the class or exam in 2025. One scholarship will be designated for a WWA member from an underrepresented community.

Eligible expenses that can be covered by the scholarship include exam/course fees, applicable study materials (not including wine) and travel expenses. Award recipients must submit receipts to ensure award money was used for the intended purpose within 12 months of award. The award recipient must have an active membership and be in good standing within the organization to utilize scholarship funds. If not used in the calendar year, or if their membership expires in the calendar year, the scholarship is forfeited. If a scholarship is forfeited, the member is eligible to apply the following year. If a member is awarded a scholarship, they must wait two calendar years before applying again. If a member applies and is not awarded a scholarship, they are eligible to apply the following calendar year.
